Our passion for wine
Bela Criola is more than just a wine brand; it’s a dream come true. The story begins with Antonio Dos Reis, a young man from the enchanting island of Santo Antão, Cape Verde. Raised among lush valleys and rugged mountains, he nurtured a deep desire: to create a wine that reflects the soul of Cape Verde—a wine that touches not only the palate, but also fills hearts with love and pride.
With that dream in his heart, Antonio began his journey. He set off for Portugal, where—with passion and perseverance—he started experimenting with different grapes and flavors. Together with his family, he developed three unique wines that honor the rich Cape Verdean culture: a full-bodied, characterful red wine (13.5%), an elegant, dry white wine (12.5%), and a festive, semi-sweet white wine (11.5%) called Txam Celebra—which means “Let’s celebrate” in Cape Verdean Creole.
These wines are infused with love for Cape Verde and its people. The name Bela Criola is a tribute to the beautiful Cape Verdean women, the culture, and the warmth shared within the community. What started as a small family business in Portugal has grown into a brand capturing hearts around the world. Today, Bela Criola is available in the Netherlands, Cape Verde, and even the United States.
